'The Spurs of 1950'

 

 

This is a  relatively scarce 48-page booklet that celebrates the Tottenham Hotspur team that won the 2nd Division championship in 1949-50 (without any inkling of what was to occur in the following year).

 

It is a wonderful publication due not only to its venerability but also for the pen pictures it gives of all the main protaganists that season together with some of the other figures that featured for & at Tottenham Hotspur in this period.

 

Arthur Rowe's 'Push-&-Run' side were to sweep to the club's first 1st Division title the following year but I like the fact that, while this booklet was published to celebrate the 2nd Division title win in 1950, it was a much less commercial time 60 years ago as the club did not issue any such offering to celebrate the 1st Division triumph in 1951.
