All Topps / Merlin Tottenham Hotspur Cards (1988 - 2004)

Having been absent from the football card scene for nearly a decade (one 1988 set aside), Topps re-emerged at the start of the 1990s at the same time as the Premier League was coming into being and, just as the Premier League was to concentrate power in the hands of a few wealthy clubs, so Topps was to equally come to dominate the football trade card market over the next 20 years.

Initially a bubble-gum manufacturer that issued cards in their packets to boost sales, in 1991 Topps actually stopped issuing bubble-gum with their cards as card collectors were complaining that the gum was staining the cards. The transformation was complete!

Topps issued stickers as well as cards (see separate pages on this site for their many, many stickers) and, from 1994, were to produce the official Premier League sticker collections.

In 1995 Topps consolidated its position still further by acquiring Merlin Publishing International which, until then, had been a well-known card-issuer in its own right. From this time Topps has continued to issue cards with either the 'Topps' or 'Merlin' logo.

The company has generally produced very large annual sets of very high quality cards since the early 1990s so the number of specific club cards is now very high. For this reason I have split the cards into two pages: 1988-2004 & 2005-onwards.

Here then are all the Topps / Merlin Tottenham Hotspur cards produced from 1988 to 2004...
