All Other 1950s Tottenham Cigarette Cards, Trade Cards & Stickers

For Tottenham Hotspur, the 1950s began with one of the finest periods in the club's history with Arthur Rowe's 'Push & Run' side winning the club's first Division One Championship in 1951 (following on from winning the Division Two title in 1950) and, quite frankly, that team should have won much, much more.

Rowe's resignation through illness in the middle of the decade heralded, after a brief sojourn by Jimmy Anderson, the arrival of a certain Bill Nicholson as Spurs manager at the end of 1958...

With the demise of the cigarette companies, football card production was maintained by many varied manufacturers. Publications and confectionery companies were a usual mainstay amongst a host of surprisingly different producers but a new source appeared on the scene: Chewing and bubble gum companies. Gum companies, both big and small, got in on the act such as Colinville Gum, Chix Gum, Soccer Bubble Gum among others and, of course, the prolific A&BC (which has its own dedicated page on this site).

The range and styles of football cards in the 1950s blossomed as the Tottenham cards below illustrate and football card design & production would continue to grow and diversify over the following decades. (Please note that, in addition to A&BC, other 1950s cards can be found in the other dedicated 'Post-War Barratt/Bassett' card page).
